Across the entire expanse of Bharatvarsha and Sanatan Dharma, there are thousands of pilgrimage sites, but Bindu Sarovar in Siddhpur (Gujarat) is uniquely celebrated as the sole Matrugaya Tirtha in existence.

Among these, Bindu Sarovar is the only lake specifically blessed for granting eternal liberation to mothers and female ancestors.
As recorded in the Shrimad Bhagavata Purana, Lord Kapil Muni was born to Kardama Rishi and Devahuti at this holy place. When Kardama Muni left for the forest, Devahuti asked Kapil Muni to grant her knowledge of the eternal soul. On the banks of Bindu Sarovar, Kapil Muni imparted Sankhya Yoga, leading Devahuti directly to Moksha. The lake itself is called Bindu Sarovar because drops of tears shed by Lord Vishnu in appreciation of Kardama Muni's penance fell here.
To fulfill his father Sage Jamadagni's strict command, Lord Parashuram was compelled to behead his mother, Mata Renuka. Even though she was later revived by Jamadagni's boon, Parashuram felt deep remorse. He traveled across the land and finally performed sacred Pind Daan and Matru Tarpan at Bindu Sarovar, where he attained complete spiritual peace and liberation from the burden of Matru-Rin.
